- ➤ Interlink Trade Services' president Jorge Torres says RioPlex has made an international rail bridge a top project for the Upper Valley to boost cross border trade and bring in new industries; a meeting on Jan. 16 will form a task force & start planning the project. Rio Grande Guardian
- ➤ STX Data and AI Network is a new local group that meets monthly at the Pharr Global Business Hub to help local tech talent connect with businesses and solve community challenges. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock released a study that found the Port of Hidalgo handled $46.4 billion in trade and supported 92,000 net jobs while contributing $9.3 billion to Texas’ GDP in 2024. The report emphasizes the vital role of Hidalgo’s border crossings in state commerce. Rio Grande Guardian
- ➤ The Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce holds a strategic retreat today at PNC Bank in McAllen from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Leaders and panelists from RioPlex, COSTEP, and UT-RGV will offer economic updates and keynote remarks by Massey Villarreal (Precision Task Group CEO). EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ South Texas College will launch a 230-hour hybrid yoga certification program on Feb. 16, led by yoga instructor Sylvia Morales-Billing — the course will combine practice with business training and offer financial aid for those who qualify. KRGV

- ➤ McAllen is investing over $6 million in an upgrade to its recycling center. The project begins with an electrical system upgrade & installation of high-speed sorting technology to capture up to 95% of recyclables by the end of the year. KRGV
