EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Mission CISD and Palmhurst police investigated a student's comment last Friday without finding a credible threat — they took disciplinary actions and increased security measures at the school. KRGV
- ➤ Aggieland Saturday, the spring open house at Texas A&M Higher Education Center, gave prospective students and families a chance to explore ten degree programs and new facilities including the Nursing Education and Research Building. Faculty and student ambassadors answered questions on how the campus will meet the Valley's workforce needs. Rio Grande Guardian
- ➤ South Texas ISD hosted the To The Moon Tournament last Saturday to honor 16-year-old Colin Feltis (killed in an Oct. crash in Donna), with over 100 students joining to celebrate his memory by playing his favorite esports games. The district plans to hold a state qualifier tournament each year. KRGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Hidalgo County Community Service Agency launched an online portal on March 1 in Edinburg to help ease long wait times for utility assistance; 400 applications will be accepted each month and applicants are encouraged to have required documents ready (in-person applications remain available at 2524 North Closner Boulevard).
