ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The Port of Brownsville reported today that America First Refining will build the first new oil refinery in nearly 50 years on 240 acres — using hydrogen-powered technology to process domestic shale oil. The project will create about 500 direct jobs and boost economic growth in the Rio Grande Valley. Rio Grande Guardian
- ➤ Mario Reyna, executive director of RioPlex, described regional teamwork as essential at a March 11 forum in Harlingen. He emphasized that coordinated efforts among local leaders will drive project investment and job growth in the competitive RioPlex corridor. Rio Grande Guardian

- ➤ UTRGV's Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization joined forces with the RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to offer mentorship opportunities to aspiring entrepreneurs & held its first event on March 10 at the chamber's McAllen offices. Rio Grande Guardian
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Dan Buettner, chief development officer for Blue Zones, presented in Edinburg on how local communities can adopt global practices that help residents live longer. Blue Zones will partner with Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas if cities like McAllen decide to embrace these practices. Rio Grande Guardian
