ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A single-vehicle rollover crash on U.S. 281 north of Edinburg near Linn caused lane closures and injured an elderly man who was taken to a local hospital while DPS is investigating—only one southbound lane remains open. KRGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A Zapata County family that has maintained a 1,200-acre ranch for eight generations now may see their home demolished if plans to upgrade Highway 83 to a divided four-lane route move forward. TxDOT said it is in contact with the family and is looking at alternatives before the project begins in 2027 — the new route could run right past the house. KRGV
- ➤ FEMA is asking local governments and nonprofits that received federal grants to provide the names and addresses of migrants they assisted because the agency says this check is needed to ensure no immigration laws were broken. Agencies have 30 days to reply as FEMA warns that funds may be withheld if there is any evidence of inducing undocumented immigrants (a review linked to recent state investigations).
