- ➤ The McAllen Spring Fling Carnival offers rides, food, and live shows for families. It will run from March 13 — March 30 at Expwy 83 — Ware Rd with ticket prices of $33 on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and $35 on Saturday and Sunday. Welcome Home RGV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ McAllen police arrested 23-year-old Leonardo Ramos for multiple thefts from department stores from February 9 to March 2—he was found at his residence without incident and now faces arraignment on five misdemeanor theft warrants. KRGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pilar Rodriguez from the Hidalgo County Regional Mobility Authority said at the Pharr State of the City Address that the group spent about $1.5 billion with TxDOT — a sign they can secure just over $2 billion — to complete four sections of the County Loop project. Rio Grande Guardian
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ DHR Health Women’s Hospital reached a major milestone after completing over 8,500 robotic-assisted surgeries for women’s health in Edinburg. The hospital expanded its program from one to four robotic systems to help patients recover faster in the Rio Grande Valley. Rio Grande Guardian
- ➤ South Texas Health System Edinburg held a World Kidney Day event to stress kidney health and teach residents how to prevent chronic kidney disease—offering advice on healthy living. The group will stream a live kidney health webinar on Tuesday, March 18—guiding the community on managing risk factors. Rio Grande Guardian
- ➤ Dr. Michael B. Hocker, dean of UT Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine, said at the 2025 State of RGV Real Estate forum that the region needs a hospital district to serve as a safety net for uninsured residents amid high poverty rates.
