- ➤ A Brownsville man said that a metal rod from an 18-wheeler went through his windshield on Tuesday afternoon while a mechanic was test-driving his Jeep after repairs—he warned drivers to watch for debris on the expressway. - ➤ Fox RGV offers a contest where participants can win a voucher for two all-you-can-ride wristbands to the North American Midway Entertainment Carnival at the corner of Ware Rd and Expressway 83 in McAllen. - ➤ Dr. Michael B. Hocker, dean of the UT Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine for almost four years, will leave his position to become executive dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in July. - ➤ Texas A&M University Foundation received a $250,000 grant from RSTEF to help address the shortage of registered nurses in the RGV. The grant was announced at the 2025 Awards Ceremony at the Radisson Hotel McAllen Airport & will support local workforce development. Rio Grande Guardian

- ➤ On Wednesday, the Texas Senate advanced a bill that would let builders build smaller homes on lots no larger than 1,400 square feet in new subdivisions on at least five acres—aiming to lower housing costs amid a shortage of about 320,000 homes.
