CRIME NEWS

  • McAllen police are seeking 56-year-old Jose Luis Hernandez for failing to update his address as required by his sex offender registry conditions—he did not report his move within seven days as mandated, and a judge issued a warrant for his arrest for a third-degree felony while he is described as 5’08, 200 pounds with dark grey hair, brown eyes, and may be driving a grey Toyota Avalon.  ValleyCentral.com

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Dr. Daniel Covarrubias, director of the Texas Center for Border Enterprise and Economic Development at Texas A&M International University, will speak about tariffs on March 26 at the Cambria Hotel McAllen Convention Center as the Council for South Texas Economic Progress sponsors the event to examine the economic impact on jobs and business.   • County employees in Edinburg are moving to the new Hidalgo County Courthouse — leaving the old building behind — as they get ready for a soft opening set for March 31. Both courthouses are closed to the public from March 24 — through March 28 — and court filings will be accepted online by the clerk offices.  ValleyCentral.com
