- ➤ Valeo held a press conference at the McAllen Performing Arts Center on March 24 to announce a new manufacturing facility. The company plans to invest $225 million to build a 337,000 sqft plant on Ware Road in south McAllen (creating up to 500 jobs and starting production in late 2027). Rio Grande Guardian
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ La Joya ISD did not decide to rename Cesar Chavez Middle School on Friday as it reviewed policies after allegations arose against the namesake; the school board will update the community when the review is complete. KRGV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Channel 5 News reporter Karen Lucero recounted being caught in floodwaters on a Weslaco frontage road during last March’s storm—when up to 20 inches of rain flooded parts of the Valley. The National Weather Service said faster warnings could help residents prepare for similar events. KRGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ One year after severe floods stranded drivers on the I-2 frontage road near Ware Road, residents and business owners still face drainage issues as TxDOT works with local partners on long-term solutions. KRGV
