CRIME NEWS

  • A man identified as 40-year-old Jose Luis Garcia was arrested by McAllen police on Wednesday after reports of suspicious activity and unconfirmed screams led to a domestic dispute on the 6500 block of North 8th Street—victim sustained minor injuries and Garcia faces an assault charge.  KRGV
  • McAllen police identified two people in a surveillance photo taken shortly after midnight on Thursday at the 6500 block of North 8th Street after receiving reports of unconfirmed screaming, and one person in the image reported to the department — police have not released names as the investigation continues and neighbors did not recognize the individuals.  ValleyCentral.com

  • Hidalgo County District Clerk Laura Hinojosa was nominated for the District Clerk of the Year Award on April 11 during the CDCAT Region VIII Spring Meeting in Eagle Pass—she said her nomination honors the hard work of her team. The award will be given at the CDCAT Conference in Sugar Land from June 8—12 when the nominee with the most votes wins.  ValleyCentral.com

HEALTH NEWS

  • DHR Health and the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance held a flag-raising ceremony on April 11 at the DHR Health Transplant Institute in honor of National Donate Life Blue & Green Day to celebrate donors and recipients and to urge community members to register as donors.
