- ➤ Jesse Leatherwood was sentenced to 35 years in prison by a Cameron County jury on Monday after being found guilty of intoxication manslaughter in the September 2024 crash that killed Deputy Constable Ruben Garcia in Brownsville—Leatherwood apologized to Garcia’s family during his sentencing.
