CRIME NEWS
- ➤ In San Carlos, a 42-year-old man named Francisco Coronado Jr. assaulted his 86-year-old father during a welfare check on April 15 at 10:33 p.m., and after his father died from blunt force trauma on April 25 his charges were upgraded to murder on April 28 with a $1,000,000 bond while he remains in custody at the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center. - ➤ Andy Garcia, president of Allied Consulting Group Texas, said the Rio Grande Valley must build local data centers to keep control of its data and decision-making power; he urged local leaders to invest in fiber, power and a skilled workforce—critical to preventing outside control over our digital future. - ➤ UTRGV announced that nine international students—whose visas were revoked earlier this month—had their SEVIS records reactivated on Monday through the federal system for student records. The university said the change is a federal matter and is not a direct action by UTRGV. ValleyCentral.com

- ➤ City officials in McAllen reported an alligator sighting Monday near a canal on 2nd Street near Pecan Boulevard—residents are urged not to approach or feed the wild animal as trained professionals monitor the situation. KRGV
- ➤ Congressman Gonzalez and Congresswoman Stefanik introduced a bill to designate the Harlingen Valley International Airport as a port of entry—if passed, this change would remove its user fees and improve customs access while McAllen and Brownsville airports already hold that status. KRGV
- ➤ Dale Murden, president of Texas Citrus Mutual, said Rio Grande Valley farmers suffered losses when Mexico did not meet its water treaty obligations and praised an Administration effort that secured immediate water deliveries with more expected over the next six months.
