- ➤ Crews are repairing storm damage in north McAllen as electricity is restored along north Ware Road — construction workers and utility crews inspect homes and sagging poles with no injuries reported. - ➤ Mission police arrested two 18-year-old males—one on May 2 and another on Friday—for aggravated robbery after a 19-year-old woman was picked up on Magdalena Street on April 25, and they are searching for a third suspect. KRGV
- ➤ Mission Police arrested two men after an aggravated robbery on April 25 at the 1300 block of Magdalena Street and are still searching for a third suspect after a woman reported being strangled at gunpoint and robbed in a white 2019 Dodge Ram. ValleyCentral.com
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ RGV Focus showed its 2024 Report Card at UT-Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine in Harlingen, which said the Valley did better than the state in nine out of 12 ways measured + did worse in three, such as kindergarten readiness and 4-year public college graduation rates. The report compared scores from 2023 and 2024 + noted gains in reading, math, and high school graduation rates, showing good progress and some challenges. Rio Grande Guardian
