  • At RGV StartUp Week in Pharr, economic leaders Adam Gonzalez and Ron Garza said the region needs one unified strategic plan so communities like McAllen can share benefits from new industry growth. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Region One hosted an event yesterday in Edinburg to celebrate school districts in the statewide Teacher Incentive Allotment Program (TIA) that gives top teachers a path to a six-figure salary. School administrators reported 94% teacher designation and nearly 100% rural participation as they shared best practices for using the funds moving forward.  ValleyCentral.com

  • The Rio Grande is running dry and local leaders plan to treat groundwater and capture more rain + stormwater to secure water for growing communities. Developers and officials warn that without new sources, local growth will slow and water bills may rise.  Click2Houston.com

  • The McAllen Police Department held its annual Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony on Wednesday at the Peace Officers Memorial Circle on Bicentennial Boulevard to honor officers who died in the line of duty—Chief Victor Rodriguez recalled losses from Federico Saenz in 1933 to officers killed in 2020 during a domestic disturbance call.  KRGV
