CRIME NEWS

  • Jesus Abiel Peña, a Rio Grande City man, was arrested after he was found with a stolen Pokémon card worth $1,800 from a McAllen store – he was booked into Hidalgo County jail on Monday with his bond set at $3,000 and released on Tuesday.  KRGV
  • Donna police are investigating a death after an unidentified body was found in a Victoria Palms Inn hotel room in Donna; emergency services responded and pronounced the person dead on-site (autopsy and toxicology tests are pending while foul play has not been confirmed).  Fox Rio Grande Valley

  • CEO Elizabeth Suarez unveiled the new 62-page McAllen Economic Pulse at MxLAN, a three-day arts and music festival held from May 9 to May 11.   • UTRGV Associate Vice President Ron Garza spoke at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Edinburg for the new Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility (AMRF), stressing that innovation and infrastructure drive manufacturing job growth.
