- ➤ The Texas Legislature passed House Bill 6 to allow schools to use longer in-school suspensions and out-of-school suspensions for repeated disruptions — the bill now goes to the governor for approval. The law will let principals review suspensions every 10 days and treat a first vaping offense with a lighter punishment, reversing past limits. The Texas Tribune
- ➤ McAllen city leaders are planning renovations at the Hidalgo Port of Entry to update facilities that have not been improved in nearly 20 years—using toll revenue, they will renovate the administration building, update restrooms, expand a maintenance building, and repurpose a restroom into storage.
