Good morning, McAllen.

McAllen city leaders are hosting a free FIFA World Cup watch party at Oval Park outside the Convention Center as the tournament starts in 10 days, offering food, drinks, vendors (and culture) for local soccer fans.

Local professionals are invited to connect at Casa de Taco - Mission Original as the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce teams with the RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (for members only).

The event offers a relaxed space to build business ties.

McAllen is now a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community, having completed the certification process by working with the Texas Film Commission (which trains cities to support media productions).

Local leaders expect the designation to boost tourism, support local talent, and attract film investments.

McAllen commissioned economist Dr. Belinda Román to complete an Economic Dashboard and Quarterly Economic Review for Q1 2026, and her analysis shows the city's sales tax growth and building permits data confirm it weathered tariff policy volatility (supporting strong economic prospects).
