  • Weslaco Police are investigating a missing man found dead in a car at a Dollar General parking lot at 2111 W. Business 83—officials began their search after a missing person report and will release more details as the investigation continues.  ValleyCentral.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • South Texas is starting the Possible Dream Adult High School to give about 900 adults a free chance to earn a high school diploma with free rides, child care, and job training.   • Educators and employers met in McAllen at the Classrooms to Commerce event to close skill gaps and train workers—preparing students and adults for in-demand careers.   • Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez, who has served for over six years, announced his candidacy for re-election and highlighted a new courthouse, increased jail capacity, improved drainage, new roads, a bio-safety laboratory, and a stronger fund balance. He said he will work to create an economic hub by building alliances and fostering a strong workforce — urging residents to support his plan for progress.  Rio Grande Guardian
