CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Authorities reported an aggravated robbery at an Edinburg smoke shop last Friday when a masked suspect fled in a new model Chevy sedan—residents are urged to report any sightings to help the investigation. Fox Rio Grande Valley
- ➤ A man was charged with intoxication assault after his truck collided with a motorcycle at the Dove Avenue and North Ware Road intersection on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.—the motorcycle was driven by a 34-year-old firefighter who was treated at the scene and later hospitalized while Paul Cooper Garza, 53, is held in Hidalgo County jail with a $35,000 bond as officers investigate the crash. - ➤ Manuel Garcia, 40, died after being shot on Friday at the 700 Block of North Erica St in Pharr and police charged Fernando Sandoval with his killing — his bond is set over $2 million. KRGV

- ➤ A multi-million-dollar project is underway to upgrade U.S. 281 between Edinburg and San Manuel—adding new lanes and frontage roads along a seven-mile stretch.
