- ➤ At a Progreso ISD school board meeting on June 26, community members urged the board to remove President Juan Jose Ramos following his arrest on June 17 for public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance — the board noted it lacks the authority to vote him out, and Ramos apologized while saying he would serve his term until May 2026. - ➤ Jim Darling, former mayor and chairman of the Region M Rio Grande Regional Water Planning Group, said at the Delta Area Summit that McAllen long clashed with District No. 3 — a water district that recently merged with District No. 15 into a new consolidated district. Rio Grande Guardian

- ➤ South Texas Health System Behavioral will host a free virtual seminar titled Let's Talk Mental Health — Self-care on Thursday, July 3 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. streamed live on its Facebook page where a mental health professional will share self-care strategies to help residents build resilience and reduce burnout.
