- ➤ On Saturday, July 12—Texas DPS said—a 2006 Toyota Tundra lost control on FM 2812 north of Edinburg, striking a fence and light pole; the unbelted passenger, Jose A. Reyna, 65, died at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance while the driver remains in treatment. ValleyCentral.com

- ➤ Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office is investigating a sexual assault in Mission after a woman said a man attacked her in his vehicle on July 9 + authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward. KRGV

- ➤ The Big Beautiful Bill, signed on Independence Day, cut nearly $800 billion from Medicaid and Medicare programs — a move that may leave around 11 million people without coverage.
