- ➤ Former Progreso mayor Gerardo Alaniz was sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison and fined $15,000 for a cocaine trafficking scheme that operated from 2020 to 2022—he will surrender himself by August 22nd to begin serving his sentence. Fox Rio Grande Valley

- ➤ The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office awarded 54 $1,000 scholarships to employees and their families on Thursday + the funds came from the Wyatt Ranches Foundation, which has supported the program for five years.
