- ➤ Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a rollover crash occurred on Saturday at around 8:30 a.m. near Inspiration Road and Business 83 in Mission — the front end of a silver car hit a cargo truck, causing it to flip over. KRGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ U.S. Rep. Cuellar said the pilot program requiring visitors from Malawi and Zambia to post a bond when applying for a B1/B2 visa starting August 20 may hurt local trade in McAllen—he warned that bond amounts of $5,000, $10,000, or $15,000 could slow cross-border shopping. He met with agricultural leaders to stress that changes in visa policy must not harm the region’s economy. Rio Grande Guardian
- ➤ USDA announced it will build a sterile fly production facility in Edinburg to produce 300 flies per week to stop screwworm infestations and help keep beef prices stable. Governor Abbott warned that the parasite could drive up grocery costs for local ranchers. KRGV
