- ➤ On Sunday around 7 a.m., a 21-year-old patient set fire to a medical cart at the South Texas Health System ER Alamo on East Frontage Road, ran away on foot, was later found in a field, and now faces charges of arson & resisting arrest. KRGV
- ➤ A 24-year-old woman named Samantha Martinez kicked an officer in the groin and punched him during a Sunday traffic stop at the 500 block of Fannin Avenue in Alamo when she refused to exit a vehicle carrying a child—driver Alejandro Fernandez was also arrested and both face charges including assault on a public servant. - ➤ Sharyland ISD began the new school year Monday with expanded career and technical education programs — a high school business incubator and an elementary discovery lab that teaches robotics, culinary arts, and entrepreneurship — to prepare students for higher education or careers. KRGV
- ➤ Sharyland ISD enacted new policies that required all middle and high school students to wear photo I.D. badges and enforce a cell phone ban under House Bill 1481—part of an effort to keep classrooms focused—on Monday. The district added school resource officers, a private security team, and new technology in its safety strategy. KRGV
