- ➤ South Texas College opened its first fire academy in Starr County—located in Rio Grande City—where 12 local cadets received 16 weeks of classroom and physical training to start a firefighting career that once required travel to Pharr or Laredo. - ➤ Edinburg Police Department is offering free safety decals for people with disabilities to place on vehicles or windows so first responders know to adjust their approach, and recipients must register with the department. KRGV
