- ➤ The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office is searching for 21-year-old Jovanni Palomino—accused of aggravated robbery and unlawful restraint after assaulting and tying up a 50-year-old man and stealing his vehicle and cellphone in Palmview on August 30—and authorities believe he fled to Mexico. KRGV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UTRGV welcomed students today at its Edinburg and Brownsville campuses as it marks its 10th anniversary. Nearly 36,000 students, including over 7,000 freshmen, start classes and will join several Welcome Week events — with one event scheduled for Wednesday. KRGV
- ➤ The Book-E Bus is a mobile bookstore that brings books and supplies to improve literacy in the community. Owner Jeannie Salinas and her husband started the business last December and will visit Tres Lagos Night Market at 4900 Tres Lagos Boulevard in McAllen to offer free books as part of their Book-E Gives Back project.
