GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Elsa Police Department launched a new cadet program for teens and young adults aged 13 to 20 that offers law enforcement and physical fitness training to prepare future first responders—applicants must meet requirements, cover dues, and attend a parent-cadet informational meeting on September 18 at 6 p.m. at Elsa City Hall.  KRGV
  • On September 2, McAllen officials revoked permits for 20 downtown bars—because they refused to install age verification and UV ink safeguards—after residents raised concerns at an August 29 workshop. Officials continue to enforce other permit rules such as surveillance cameras and on-site security to keep the area safe.  KRGV
