CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle is searching for relics lost after a plane deliberately crashed into the shrine on October 23, 1970, which started a fire that destroyed the original building. The relics—like a burned torso of Christ and a chalice bought for $2—show the church's faith and will be displayed in a museum to teach people about the shrine's history. KRGV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City officials in Alamo approved a new traffic ordinance near PSJA Memorial Early College High School to protect students after concerns over jaywalking and heavy traffic during school hours. The ordinance bans parking on segments of Ridge Road and allows police to issue citations while new stop signs, markings, and signals will be installed (as discussed on Tuesday) and parents will be alerted on social media before enforcement begins. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Mayra Mendoza found three lumps in her breast during a routine mammogram even though she thought she was very healthy, and she then underwent a year of treatments including chemotherapy, immunotherapy and a double mastectomy. She chose reconstructive surgery at the DHR Health Breast Center of Excellence, which brought her physical and emotional healing (she is now cancer-free and grateful). KRGV
