Good morning, McAllen.

McAllen City Manager Isaac Tawil will soon announce a program that partners UTRGV business students, the McAllen Chamber, and the city’s retail development office to help stores improve business planning and marketing strategies — a win-win that supports local growth and prepares students for future careers.

Ruben Cortez, board director of Region One Education Service Center, said the center secured two GEAR UP grants on October 20 to boost college readiness for more than 11,000 seventh graders in over 20 school systems— the program will follow students from 7th grade through their first year of college.

Businessman Joaquin Spamer — founder of the CIL Group — spoke via video at Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez's 2025 State of the County Address and promoted RioPlex, a new campaign to market the Rio Grande Valley and northern Tamaulipas globally.
