Good morning, McAllen.

Economic Development Director Rick Carrera said COSTEP’s Binational Autocluster project, which began in July, has connected over 90 automotive companies and suppliers across South Texas and northern Tamaulipas.

The group also signed a memorandum of understanding with INDEX Nacional at a Mexico City convention to boost competitiveness and attract more investment.

McAllen City Manager Isaac Tawil said trucks from Mexico will cross the Anzalduas International Bridge six to seven hours faster than using Laredo once it is ready for fully loaded cargo.

He noted the bridge will be CTPAT and FAST-certified and is expected to boost industrial development—helping cargo move coast to coast in about seven days.
