- ➤ Camp McAllen, a 20-acre park along 23rd Street that opened in July, was named the McAllen Shines Champion on Wednesday. The park offers kayak and fishing docks, a shaded gazebo, and scenic trails—and it is providing one free rental per person for fishing, kayaking or archery until the end of the year. KRGV
- ➤ Reynaldo Garza, a 62-year-old Peñitas man with a cognitive impairment, was found alive near Mission on Wednesday morning after disappearing Monday night and is now in hospital with cuts, bruises, and a suspected fractured foot. The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office advises families with similar needs to secure their homes—volunteers on horseback and ATVs helped locate him—and locals are asked to keep him in their prayers tonight. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Early Wednesday morning, a fire near Monte Alto burned a home built over four years and left a family of 14 with only the clothes they wore—Fire and Rescue and community agencies, including the Red Cross, responded while investigators ruled out arson and the family stayed with relatives. KRGV

- ➤ Mario Reyna said the Prosperity Task Force and RioPlex are working together to boost the region's industrial growth and create more jobs. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ La Joya ISD has proposed closing four campuses—Benavides, Peña, Leo, and Ann Richards—and repurposing J.D. Salinas Middle School into a career academy to address enrollment declines and save up to $27.2 million. Public meetings will be held for the 2026—2027 school year before the board makes a final decision in January 2026. KRGV
