- ➤ Volunteer Ned Sheats, a certified electronic technician (with 400 hours of work), restored the historic clock outside Mission City Hall after years of disrepair. It will soon be installed to complete its return as a symbol of Mission's heritage. KRGV
- ➤ After 20 years, bride Amy Nittler donates her satin wedding dress to Sara Villareal — who discovered it on Facebook — giving the soon-to-be bride an affordable option for her outdoor wedding next year and easing costs for her four daughters. KRGV
- ➤ On Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2,205 new jackets were purchased through the 43rd annual Tim’s Coats campaign after local donors contributed $42,000; The Salvation Army and Catholic Charities will distribute the coats to those in need. KRGV

- ➤ Aedyn Kroeker, a 19-year-old musician (born with optic nerve hypoplasia), energizes local venues with his guitar and voice across the Valley while he pursues a political science major at UTRGV and plans to elevate his music career. KRGV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ McAllen ISD will issue a $750 retention stipend to its full-time employees (over 3,000) on Friday after a $13 million surplus boosted the district’s funds, with the move covering roughly $2.5 million from the general fund. Superintendent Dr. Rene Gutierrez said the payment reflects responsible budget management. KRGV

- ➤ Starting January 1, the Mission Fire Department will equip every engine with Advanced Life Support to deliver immediate care in emergencies. The upgrades include cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, advanced airway management, IV access + medication administration to treat conditions like cardiac events and strokes. KRGV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Local health officials and pharmacists report that flu and RSV cases are rising as winter begins in five days and holiday gatherings approach. They urge residents to get vaccinated and practice good hygiene if symptoms develop (a precaution advised by health experts). KRGV
- ➤ Dr. Sujan Gogu at DHR Health Sports and Pain Medicine explains that local patients can now ease spine pain using non-surgical treatments such as physical therapy, targeted injections, and radiofrequency ablation.
