If you live in eastern Hidalgo County, here's a flood idea worth knowing. Elsa officials held a Thursday meeting on a proposal to turn two gravel pits into retention ponds. The ponds would hold extra rainwater and help reduce flooding in nearby neighborhoods and along roadways.
